With the footage showing our hero running through various locales through Valisthea, we're said to encounter new friends and foes throughout our adventure and even uncover some mysteries along the way. We will however get to experience a fully playable flashback that gives us insight in to the events of his past that shape his journey. As the showcase reiterated, we'll be following Clive across "three distinct periods" of his life, with the game beginning with the protagonist in his 20's. The April 2023 State of Play showed off a little over 20 minutes of Final Fantasy 16 gameplay, offering us another look at the story, world, systems, and combat.
